Fun puzzle Whimsy, and lots of chuckles along the way. So, I THINK I am off the couch -oops just confirmed, the I am off the couch guess I go back to doing some home repairs and wiring....

this is why doctors should not do work around the house.
Bob, that is why they make end tables, screens, quilt racks, etc. One simply moves one of the aforementioned in front of the offending item and le voilà.

Now if only they had something for plumbing "work arounds"......

Dr. Tom

I believe that those workarounds would be called buckets (to catch the results of your mistakes)

Off the couch and out to stroll. Fun one!

I’m too new to have heard about the SCC (Stern Crew Cultivators), but next time I’m stuck on board I’ll head back there to cultivate and cogitate!
The other Wendy.

Nudge Wednesday!
"Pick" as many as you'd like!

Buds always use the buddy-system!

This puzzle could be solved without the asterisks.

But it would be a little harder. The asterisks actually make it easier. :D

Because the asterisks are there, you don't have to be concerned with the numbers until the very end.

At that point, do not get your knuckles rapped by Ms. Lerch* for mispeeling.

(* I actually had a teacher with that last name. But she taught math. And I'm sure this was the most helpful nudge of all of them!)

PS -- A second on madhatter's plug for benchen's new MOAT puzzles, and also don't forget MikeyG's Pun of a Kind, especially if you enjoy DrTom's company.

Thanks for the puzzle! (Though I'm still holding a bag of cats on the couch in the ship's bar)

Had to gather my thoughts last night but the sixth highlighter did the trick. Solved pre-nudges. Learned a few neat things too!

You know, on the Zoom yesterday, I was just pulling your chain when I said you needed 6 highlighters to solve this. But I have to say that new pack of 8 colors is mighty pretty!

Off the couch and confirmed.

This was a two highlighter (38 more in the box, though). While hubby was trying to resurrect his 2011 IMac from white death, I sat at the dining table looking, looking, then AHA!! Was determined not to use nudges until maybe late Friday so this is a sweet one for me.

Bring on that darned WSJ meta! :P

Just completed the grid, and strolled through the meta. Good one Whimsy! Now we just need a meta focused on knitting!

In the distance, at right, the couch is empty.

Terrific puzzle, whimsy. But now we need one on baseball or cars or the like. I mean if I can spend umpteen minutes trying to figure out what the heck a Coreopsis is, well then surely others could spend that amount of time determining who the last guy who hit .400 was or that a 409 is simply a bored and stroked ???
