Episode #248 Contest: "Squeeze Play"

#1

Post by bcimmet »

Hello, solvers! There's a new contest crossword on Fill Me In. I'll rate this one 2.2 bananas on a scale of 5 bananas. (Bananas has nothing to do with the puzzle, it's just a 1-to-5 scale we made up.)

The puzzle is called "Squeeze Play." The solution to the puzzle is a brand name.

The crossword can be downloaded from here. You're welcome to solve, you're even welcome to join in the chatter about the puzzle -- but if you want to be eligible for a prize, you have to listen to the podcast for this week's password. The podcast can be found here (via Apple Podcasts), or just search for it wherever you enjoy podcasts.

Thanks for joining us on this adventure of contest crosswords. Feel free to contact me at brian@bemoresmarter.com if you have any suggestions, questions, comments, or ideas.

Brian, I wasn't able to open the puzzle... it says it's not an Across puzzle or it's corrupt. Maybe I did something wrong, but I also tried it from your podcast website.

I could open it in Puzzazz. It wouldn’t open in across lite which I prefer because I can’t figure out how to print from Puzzazz. Oh well too tired to work on it now.

I was however able to open it at this site, which displays puzzles quite nicely it turns out.

Huh. Well, I also downloaded it yesterday. Somehow it has become corrupt between yesterday and today? I can send the file I got yesterday to anyone who's dying to solve right now, but hopefully Brian will be able to fix the problem.

Perhaps someone who is able to open it in across lite could create and share a pdf?

That's pretty cool, but I'm a paper & pencil solver. Can't print. But cool!

I did it yesterday without a problem. I think at some point they fixed a couple typos, so maybe that's when it got messed up.

There it is! Sneakily tricky.

I have one minor nit re: consistency, but it’s really more of a style preference. I enjoyed this one!
