Redhead64 Meta Crossword - "3 ON A MATCH"

#1

Post by Abide »

Every Monday Ryan Faley, AKA 'Redhead64', provides a variety meta puzzle at his Blog, found here: https://redhead64puzzles.blogspot.com/

These puzzles have a 'FINAL ANSWER' (meta) that may be submitted to Ryan at itsredhead64@gmail.com.

This week is a meta crossword, titled "3 ON A MATCH" (now where have I heard that phrase...?)

Stuck solvers can also request nudges/hints by email to Ryan. Deadline is Sunday night thirteen days after the puzzle is posted. Correct solvers will make the leaderboard, and you may submit under your alias/XWords Muggles name.
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

This was a fun puzzle. Not, perhaps, for those still smarting from GAME, SET AND MATCH, though.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Got it!

Now Ryan should also concoct a puzzle to somehow force me to relive the agony of PAGEANT.

Yes, I was among those who submitted THREE ON A MATCH for the recent WSJCC, "This, That, and the Other Thing". They say that comedy equals tragedy plus time. But too soon? Rubbing salt in a still fresh wound? No, I laughed heartily upon seeing this puzzle's title.

Solved! I didn't quite see what I needed after finishing the grid, but the meta jumped out at me when I looked at the puzzle a few hours later.
