Thanks! I am sure I have it too, down to the details. Interesting mechanism, crazy-hard grid for a Boomer.oldjudge wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 5:37 pm Has anyone done this puzzle? I have most of it done and an idea of what the answer is. It’s tough but interesting.

Now if I could only make headway on Lexicon Devil, I'd be a free man.

Thanks for the pointer, @oldjudge! That grid was unreal, harder than the former Saturday Stumpers for me. Two hours and I still had to Google a few things; I have no time or motivation left to figure out the meta :-) I see the obvious things but no idea what to do with them. Will revisit later.

Ricky's really into animation and video games. And constructing hard themelesses. I'm not surprised that for a contest puzzle he'd pull no punches in those areas but it's looking like I'm going to have to do some Googling to even finish the underlying puzzle here because it's kicking my butt.
Check out the meta challenge at Lexicon Devil

Have the grid (finally).
Have a suspicion but suspect this will require more google on my part, so probably going to set it aside.

Took a few sessions, but got both the grid and a solution to the meta that seems to work (famous last words...).

Given how I arranged my rebuses, I didn't get as far as the tic and the tac...but I like this answer.
