Published weekly by expert constructor Peter Gordon, the Fireball crossword is famous for being hard. How hard? Well, in the words of Peter Gordon, if you need to ask, too hard for you! Clueless. Absolutely clueless. Tonight. After all, tomorrow is another day.

Im less than clueless, if that's possible. Afraid that no clue even exists. But there's time.

Just submitted my answer...if it's correct, it's very clever. If it's wrong, it's an incredible coincidence.

Had a good meta weekend with WSJCC, MGWCC, and PGWCC, but NO CLUE on Fireball. Oh, I hate to do it, but if anyone would like to email me a clue (you know who you are!), I'll take it. And I promise I won't enter the contest. Thanks!

It's amazing how these work. I've been staring at this one for days and was also lost in space on MGWCC too. Picked them up again for a fresh look, and got both in 10 minutes.

Got it! But with a hint, from a fellow puzzler. (Thanks!) So I won't enter the contest. Somewhat interestingly, I was briefly following the right rabbit hole, but there was an aspect of it that was throwing me off, so I moved away from it too quickly.

Did anyone get this without google? If so, you're more cultured than I am!

I knew two, was vaguely familiar with one more, and never heard of the other two.

I knew two and had to google the rest as well. And yet I felt very smart for solving it! Thanks to Peter for that!

I spent the weekend at the art museum, when I should have been at the library:

Klimt - The Virgins
Rodin - The Thinker
Warhol - Big Electric Chair
Dali - A Family of Marsupial Centaurs
Caravaggio - The Fortune Teller

Couldn't dig out of that rabbit hole. It did occur to me that The Thinker stood out for not only being in a different medium, but also being the only one that included the whole, correct title. I should have glommed on to that idea. And lots of Google for me all around. But one thing I like about metas is that even though I didn't get the right answer, I could now give an hour-long dissertation on each of these paintings. 8-)
