No countryside needed to see bears in Asheville. Those are likely city limit bears.
wowza!
Yeah I’m minutes from downtown visiting family, and we see them frequently. They are effectively very large raccoons.
with places to go, if that pic is any indication!

Ashore from Asheville! Not too many rabbits along the way, but I did spot this guy… https://i.imgur.com/qaC2K7S.jpg Yikes! Will keep this in mind next time I’m tempted to move to the countryside! Re: "Connect The Dots" June 11, 2021

If everyone deserts Isaac, ALAS, he’ll get lonely right as the weekend is on the verge of starting. And I would never, ever want that to happen. 😢 So, having finished 99 percent of the grid and EYEING some likely relevant hints in the grid to the mechanism, rather than sink into dismay and despair, ...

I grew up on dead end street, and we always thought cut de sac was a highfalutin phrase used by pretensious real estate folks. A kind of elegant variation. As Orwell wrote: Foreign words and expressions such as cul de sac, ancien régime, deus ex machina, mutatis mutandis, status quo, Gleichschaltun...

Re: "Pardon My English" June 4, 2021

It seems like, just as with any new skill, there is a significant feeling down phase that one just has to work through. For sesame street fans, check out kermit Mary Had a Bicycle on youtube. Its a great lesson in not giving up even when things are bleak. As they often are in this Alice in Wonderlan...

Re: "Pardon My English" June 4, 2021

I finally broke down and asked for help. I had all the pieces but could not put them together. I abandoned an early strategy which was my downfall. The 25% confusion plagued me as well, largely because Google got me to the 75% so quickly. The correct solution is fair in my opinion. It just depends ...

As life opens up and I’m spending more time with people outside my family, it is difficult to explain my new weekend “job” of the the WSJCC to them. When I entered the pandemic I had never heard of this! I sat with friends on a beautiful porch looking out on Table Rock, Hawksbill and Grandfather 🏔 ...
