Re: MEOW #28: Don't Overthink It

I, too, needed all three nudges. I was trying to figure out where to go for dinner on Wednesday and the local Japanese place kept coming to mind thanks to the letters in this grid. 😆 Due to the last two weeks' worth of all puzzles presented on xword-muggles, I've been craving General Tso's Chicken.

Beam me up! Sheesh. Beam me up! Perfect week two. Agree and ashamed to have treated it as a Week 4! Too late, Barbara! Looks like there are eddies in the space-time continuum this week: https://www.xword-muggles.com/download/file.php?id=2970 I'd better beam up quick before I get shunted into the evi...

Re: "Pardon My English" June 4, 2021

I'd have answered "Dead End" and been no wiser. That actually happened and then I counter nudged with “en Francais” I went with look at the title for a non-English word and look for synonyms for 64A. Too much? I don't think there is "right" & "wrong," but opinions ...

Re: "Pardon My English" June 4, 2021

And a request for those of you who send nudges: what would have been some good nudges for this puzzle? I got a private message asking for a nudge, but referred the guy to couple of oldies [there it is again] because I, a newbieish, had no idea how to construct a delicate nudge. Did know enough not ...

"Mon Dieu!" I complained in despair, While losing my savoir faire. "Shut your Francophile muzzle and look at the puzzle; there is a solution out there!" A good one from Gaffney again; My friends, do I hear an "Amen!"? Though it was a struggle for many a muggle, I say o...

I had a similar reaction and waffled between the two for some time but ultimately decided to submit the French version based on three things: 1. The play on the common phrase in the title, indicating French 2. Trés Bien is a more flexible phrase 3. It was D-Day 😉 1. The numbers speeled out TRÈS BIEN.

This mechanic gives me the heebie-jeebies. After the correct answer is revealed any general tips and perhaps a few examples of "bracket puzzles" would be a helpful post.
The amazing @BarbaraK has done this for muggles, HERE.

I didn't want to say this on the first page for fear of being ticketed by the POE-lice, but how about Wendy, rocking #1 like a boss! And KayW also breaking 30 minutes... Hear! Hear! (Truth: Wendy is the POE-lice!) More limericks, please! These are great. The Zoom Q&A with Matt Gaffney is 3 week...
