"What Is In A Name?"

As Al Sisti mentioned in his Shoulda Put A Ring On It post last week, we have decided to try and make member-created meta crosswords a regular feature here in the Other Metas section of the forum. If you have a meta crossword you would like featured here, please reach out to me or Al and we will add it to the queue. There is no evaluation or editorial process. The idea is just to ensure that there is at least one member-created puzzle "live" on the site every week. Therefore, you should still feel free to post any puzzles you've made (of any kind - meta or not) in the Other Muggle Puzzles section of the the Other Puzzles forum. Muggle Meta Mondays is not intended to replace that section.

Al kicked off Muggle Meta Mondays on Wednesday (in perfect Al fashion) of last week. I have moved that inaugural puzzle - Shoulda Put A Ring In It - to this section.

This week's puzzle is called "What Is In A Name?" The solution is in four parts, consisting of the following (in order):
  • an autobiographical book,
  • a foreign state,
  • a computer command and
  • a television actress

The answer will be posted on Sunday afternoon. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know if you have any questions or feedback.

I had a hard time with the top left corner of the grid, with four names I didn’t know, and had to google there.

The meta is brilliant. Really enjoyed it.

I do have one question/nitpick I’ll PM.

Thanks, Barbara.

The first item of the prompt should be amended to read:
  • an autobiographical book (not a novel - news to me!)
Sorry for any confusion.

NOTE changes to the blank spreadsheet:

— The grid can be highlighted directly (not under a transparent image).

— Filling in the grid creates 4 additional grids, below Row 51, to highlight & mark-up.

— The Grid Answer numbers are protected. You should not be able to select nor change them.

— To fit my screen, I had to change the Custom View Zoom to 73%.

[EDIT 1: KayW pointed out that I had left the sheet unprotected, which made navigating more cumbersome & defeated the purpose of trying a new format. Thank you, Kay! If you downloaded before Tuesday, 11:30 AM, either protect your sheet (Review... Protect Sheet), or click on link to download the protected blank.]

I have the first step, but then nothing... hoping for post-enlightenment. I think I'm intimidated by the multi-part description of the solution!

Don’t be. Just figure out how to solve the meta and then the description will make sense.

Solved! I was also intimidated for the first two looks and then I did some more research and realized what I was supposed to be doing. It all came together nicely!

Because it’s a muggle puzzle I gave it mugs (coffee cups was the best I could do) instead of stars.

I really have little coffee cups that change to soup when I submit my post.

It definitely was a 5-Mugger in my opinion too...
