Off the couch! Fun one!! :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Fun idea, thanks. Took me a few beats to spot the way in, but got there eventually. :)

@Tom Shea After I had the answer, I had to backsolve for one actor and then I realized who it was and on a second when backsolving did not work, I appealed to the kind graces of @Wendy Walker. And I do admit one was a very difficult challenge for Ms. Walker so I am willing to give her a pass for a fun meta.

OTC!
This was one of those where I knew pretty quickly what I needed to do, but it was easier said than done. After taking a break, I glanced at my notes again and realized I had a good guess that turned out to be right, though I didn't have 100% of it.

Wednesday nudges:
Based on the title, what do you think should you be looking for in the grid?
There are eight of them, symmetrically placed.
Read the unnecessarily wordy clues for those eight, and keep in mind the prompt -- you're looking for an actor.
How could that verbosity help you to derive a surname?
Video spoiler: I really wanted to post a photo of my MALE CAT playing with various untidy SKEINS OF YARN in my knitting basket.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Final solvers:
79. Sanna
80. Jaclyn
81. Prog
82. Naptown Kid
83. Tom C
I am so grateful to all solvers! What an awesome turnout!

The meta answer is TOM HANKS.

Solvers had to notice the eight first names in the grid (Terry, Peter, Bill, Dustin, Linden, Nick, Grace, Jimmy) and then, using the movie or TV show hint given in each clue ("Make Mine Mink": Terry-Thomas; "Goodbye, Mr. Chips": Peter O'Toole; "Meatballs": Bill Murray; "Hook": Dustin Hoffman; "The Young and the Restless": Linden Ashby; "Weeds": Nick Nolte; "The Swan": Grace Kelly; "Rear Window": Jimmy Stewart), determine the actor's surname. The first letters of those surnames spelled the meta answer.
