Episode #387: In Exile

#1

Post by bcimmet »

It's been a while, but there's a new contest puzzle from Fill Me In. Based on the old (and pointless) banana system, this is probably a 2.5-banana puzzle with a 1.5-banana meta. (The puzzle has nothing to do with bananas, it's just a 1-to-5 scale.)

The puzzle is called "In Exile" and was constructed by Stephanie Lane and Shannon Rapp. The solution to the puzzle is the name of a film.

The crossword can be downloaded from here. You're welcome to solve and talk about the puzzle -- but if you want to be eligible for a prize, you have to listen to the podcast for this week's password. The podcast can be found on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, our own website, or wherever you collect your podcasts.

Once you've solved the puzzle, submit your answer and this week's password by email to fmi@bemoresmarter.com. You can also contact us with any suggestions, questions, comments, or ideas. Thanks for playing along!

I’m so happy to have an FMI meta again! I’ve missed them!

And this was a fun one to restart the series. Thanks Stephanie and Shannon, and thanks Brian and Ryan.

My banana is split.
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Solved (but not submitted). Fun puzzle!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Hey, “Fill Me In” is back!

Nice to see.

Found it a few days after posting, and I’ve solved, but not submitted.

Attention meta constructors. When Brian announced that there is no new FMI contest puzzle this week, he also said that they'd welcome submissions. Thought some folks here might be interested.

Sorry to whomever I've missed. I'm sure there are some.

Would be great to see some muggle puzzles there.

Did they announce the answer? It's one of those where I have something that logically seems like the answer, but I'm only 99% sure....
