I solved it without Google (but not without Wikipedia)shalmanezer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 5:37 pm Pretty simple meta this week, but if anyone claims they solved it without Google, I'm throwing them back in the ocean.

The WSJ site is not my favorite way to solve these, but I soldiered through it and now I'm ashore with the rest of y'all/yinz/youse. (English does too have a separate plural second person pronoun! Several of them, in fact.)

Ashore! Claiming my spot under the palm tree next to the Tiki Bar. Want to stay cool, but hydrated.

I’m looking for an open spot on this crowded beach.
Definitely some things I didn’t know in that grid

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

I did EXACTLY the same thing!MajordomoTom wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 5:14 pm wanted to finish the grid before submitting and posting here - had the grid about 70% done, discovered the mechanism, and used it to finish the NW corner.

Posting late, but it was a quick swim to shore. The beach already looks crowded.
I knew the answer to 17D because I was born there. I wouldn't expect most people to know that one. Probably the closest you'll get to the city is flying over it!

On Naboo. Late start, but not a hard landing. The droid behind the bar is mixing a concoction of absinthe, tequila, and cinnamon. Whatever it is, I'll take it. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

On shore looking for a beach umbrella to find shade under before the crowds hit. And we're already at triple digits after less than three hours!
