Had a couple tricky spots in the grid, not being up on my 1915 roadsters, quotables, Swiss rivers, or pianists. But two guessed letters turned out to be correct.

Meta was finished before the grid this week. Glad our virtual shore is hurricane free, and hope all in the path of Idalia are well!
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Solved and ashore! Off to enjoy an amazing Fall-like evening here. Hope all impacted by severe weather are ok.

PS: If you want help with a meta, PM what you have so I can help without spoiling too much. I've received lots of help in the beginning and I love to pay it forward!

On the boat.

If the puzzle is dated September 1 but comes out on August 31, is it a week 1 or a week 5?

Ashore4us! A very nice clever Shenkian puzzle.

In the top 50. We love it!

A Smithwick's Red Ale with some Sartori Montamore Cheddar cheese, please. That's Italian!

We are always happy to get to know other muggles and help in any way! PM's are always welcome. The next best thing to winning a mug is helping a fellow muggle win a mug!

WSJ puzzles, unlike Matt Gaffney's subscription meta puzzles, don't necessarily get progressively harder during the month. If I were to rate this one, maybe week 1.5-2 on a 5 pt scale

Ashore. Had to think about it quite a bit, but it's solid. Good luck to all!

You're Down Under! Welcome!! :D
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

On shore! Nice meta, had "team effort" aha moments between Lisa and me that kept us going. Time for the Nebraska Huskers to have an aha moment in tonight's game against Minnesota. GBR.

Thanks for the well wishes @Wendy Walker !! The alarm is armed. No progress on the meta. Another tough grid from Mike and it seems another tough meta!!

Stay well and stay safe

Had to take a second look, but then it clicked. I am ashore!
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.
