As others have said, the Saturday WSJ is (IMESHO) a masterpiece! As I just said on another site, it reminded me of the first time I ever saw a Rubik’s cube and said to myself, “How is that even possible?!”.

Slept on my pageant concerns, decided what the heck, and swam to shore. If incorrect I'll have plenty of company.

Got to the puzzle late this week, having been away. But, happy to report pretty quickly on shore with what I’m sure will be ridiculous odds on the mug!

Count me on shore as well. Had an answer Thursday evening, but just wanted to think about it some more. Nothing new has come to me, so I guess that my original answer is what Matt is looking for this week.

Good Sunday morning muggles. We have had a steady stream of muggles getting to shore and a steady stream of limericks (and great cartoon Bird Lives)

At present we have two muggles keeping Isaac company until they depart for the shore and 125 on the shore with various levels of trepidation.

On the ship contemplating whether this is another Pageant (and yes we are all scarred from the experience a couple of years ago) are KTWhitaker and Tom S

Making their way to the shore since yesterday are
MajorDomoTom
lusophile
ccmac
Barbara K
Kay who was there but I missed her and got limericked
Gwyneth
DrTom
spotter
Kas
ky-mike
and Susan G

more to come ashore as the afternoon goes on I am sure

After two weeks enjoying Isaac's company, I'm declaring myself onshore, despite my unease with the fact that the simple answer we're finding lacks the usual elegance and symmetry we've come to expect. As the French say, à suivre...

I have out of the country and only had an iPhone so missed a couple of weeks.

Got in today, totally jet lagged and still see what I think must be the answer.

When they look this easy, then I am usually wrong.

Count me on shore anyway.

the "symmetry" you seek is in the puzzle answers themselves - look closer and you'll no longer be "non-plussed".

Good night and sleep tight Muggles. We all gave it our best pageant shot, so now it’s in the emcee Mike Miller’s hands to announce the winner. Good luck to all. 🙋‍♀️

Swam to the crowded shore.

Still not convinced we're not all at the mythical Pageant Island. Where you can check in, but never win.

Our final count is 131 on the shore. Close to the record but no cigar (sorry Rufus T Firefly)

Also we have our 498th muggle - rexthree

Since noon jag, Jeff S, Richard, rex, Louwers and Tom S have made it to the shore.

Only a couple more hours to find out if the contest was easy and we are paranoid or we got pageanted once again

If we find that this was a pageant,
And our answer was just not what Matt meant;
We’ll take solace in knowing
That OUR beach was overflowing
With all the fun muggles that went.

Sweetbreads are truly awful
and they are also offal
muggles don't eat them
and they don't like them
the shore is getting all full
