Off the couch!

I FINALLY saw the light. Great puzzle. I agree with Dr. Tom. The more I look at it the more I like it.

I had an elaborate rabbit hole set up in the grid. It was too symmetrical to be a coincidence and yet it was. When I saw the answer it was a for sure. I only submitted to make the leaderboard more accurate. :)

Nudge Wednesday, if there are those that need it:

Look for 4 hairstyles that are split in the grid. They're placed symmetrically!

8A and 68A provide direction. If you got to this spoiler, you must have found the hairs split across. What about down?

The same black squares that split hairs across, split hairs down as well.

I hope that helps! PM me if you need another nudge.

I think we have the answer so what do we do now to check it? If correct, we got it without any nudges!
Well done, Don & wife! Send a PM to Schmeel about your solve (I am certain your answer is correct) and he'll put you on the leaderboard!
This has been an incredible week for my wife, Cynthia, and me. If I have the correct terminology, we did not only make it to shore last Friday, but by yesterday, we were off the couch and beamed up!!!!!!!

Just now getting around to this and haven't looked at the nudges, but I'm pretty sure I'm off the couch.
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Like @SewYoung and @hoover I didn't get around to the puzzle until yesterday. After I had filled in the grid, my day got crazy and I never got back to it until this morning. Just solved the meta, as confirmed on Crosshare, while sipping my first cup of coffee. Now that's a great way to start the day in my book! Thank you, Schmeel!!

Got off the couch (confirmed) just in the nick of time after I finally settled down, as I was way overcomplicating matters. Well constructed and enjoyable in the end.
