The meta for this puzzle is the missing fifth theme entry, a musician in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Send in your answer to the meta before 11pm ET Sunday, August 8, at pmxwords.com.

Al with another Sistine performance at #2.

Initially I thought there was more than one possible answer, with one much more natural, but now I see that I was wrong about that.

Fast for me at number ten. The top ten has a lot of muggles—great work guys!

Good work as I watch from the sidelines this month.
Rushed and flubbed my entry this month.

Wow, can't believe I got this one done on a Tuesday. I've been in a definite slump the last couple of months.

Got it. Felt a small step down in difficulty from previous two.

Forgot this was the first Tuesday of the month! #36. Also got the red herring, which I suspected for a few months, but absolutely no clue on the mega...

I got this after some initial missteps and rabbit holes. It's nice to have fairly quick success on this after striking out on the MGWCC fifth-fifth week meta.

Got it. I expected to be stumped based on the last few MMMMs. My stabs in the dark turned out to be on target this time.

I sent in an H.G. Wells answer. Not actually H.G. Wells, but you get the idea. Of course, it was wrong. Sigh.

Took me a little while to put the pieces of this together, but made it to the board. Thanks to someone here for posting something to this page (not a spoiler!) that helped me realize I'd been reading something incorrectly. Made all the difference.

I see something which is perhaps part of the solution, but not specific enough as multiple musicians in the Hall of Fame have the same property. I don't think it's a just a coincidence, but maybe I'm in a rabbit hole.

I didn't get last month's puzzle, but I did solve the red herring.

I feel I may have missed part of this meta, as even though I got it right it was more of like “well what the hell else could the answer be” rather than a completely mathematically un-eliminated response. And Pete is not prone to incomplete metas, he is up there with the Great and Wise MG on these things.

Solved! I was stuck before the Muggle Zoom call tonight, but spending an hour hanging out with all those super-solvers must've shaken something loose.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!
