Off the couch. Not only did I learn some new words, I enjoyed all the humor - especially 25a. Thanks for a great meta puzzle!

Great puzzle, tricky and fun clues, got the meta last night (pending confirmation) but I’ve run into a mental block with one part of the grid. So one foot off the couch?
Later: Finished the grid with a nudge, thanks Doc!

I am delighted that there are so many solvers and that you all like it. I do wonder now how the Cruise Director keeps up with this because I am only in the 30s - new found appreciation Bob!

Ooh, ooh, I'll bet I know, can I take a jab? I'm not trying to needle you though, stick with it (groan).

Thanks, I have to admit I chuckled to myself when I wrote that one - seemed like the ultimate oxymoron.Tom Mueller wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 6:09 pm Off the couch. Not only did I learn some new words, I enjoyed all the humor - especially 25a. Thanks for a great meta puzzle!

Off the couch! However, I needed a bit of explanation from Dr. Tom to appreciate why my answer was correct. It all ties up very neatly "in the end".
I did not realize its until I worked on this puzzle, but I have created a persona for the constructors and many of the solvers of these puzzles, based on the written interaction in this forum. Perhaps I should attend a Tuesday Zoom to see how close I am!
The clues to this puzzle were just so, well, Dr. Tom, that I felt like he was reading them aloud to me. That actually helped to figure out some of the more clever entries. (5A, 15A, 7D, 25A, 44A, 68A and others). By the way, I thought that 68A was a singularly clever clue for possibly the most banal and ubiquitous entry is the crossword world.

Oh and I didn't submit to you but I know I have the correct answer. And yes it was exactly where you are thinking, LOL! I sent a text with the answer to a known solver while I was standing in line.

I am off the couch (not literally as I am sitting here looking out at my bird feeders). Very fun clues! I liked this.
