#651 - "Missing Piece"

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

I missed my first WSJ in a long time the weekend he was born, and while I look at metas when I think of it between visits, I think it may be time for a break if my MGWCC streak dies here. But somehow, it doesn't really bother me to miss one the way it used to! :)
My first was born on Halloween! Congrats!

My brain kinda went to mush after that.

Got absolutely nothing (outside of some not-yet-concrete starting points). If anybody wants to compare notes I'm game.

Are you the first Muggle to solve then?

Speaking of which - surprised no one has mentioned 3D yet.

Like many others, I have the beginnings of some ideas, but nothing more. Iโ€™d love to brainstorm with someone! Lemme know

Grid done, and thoroughly explored two rabbit holes, but my submission was wrong. ๐Ÿ˜ž Oh well, c'est la vie!

I am a novice and this is my first look at a MGWCC puzzle. Signed up Friday and worked the grid. Looked for solid navigational aids but didn't find much. Found one lead - perhaps a rabbit hole - but went on to find what I BELIEVED was the answer and submitted it earlier today. Just checked the leaderboard and it was updated and my name is not on it. I trust that that means I got it WRONG.

Looking forward to the education and learning process after the answer is posted. Onward and upward!

This is NOT a typical week 3 MGWCC. More like a week 5. Thereโ€™s all kinds of help on this forum for novices. We are a friendly bunch, and some of us have very particular tastes when it comes to beer.

Whew, beam me up! I was in a really convincing rabbit hole with my first (unsubmitted) answer, glad I held off and kept looking. The second answer was a much better click.

How long has Isaac been serving Thanksgiving turkey? I don't think that was there a few hours ago!

Solved....and that's all I will say.

I did share some thoughts w/ Matt in the comments (when submitting my answer).

I would appreciate some collaboration or a gentle nudge in the right direction - have a suspected rabbit hole and that's about it.

This feels like a Cliff Clavin Jeopardy puzzle.

"The answer is a noted work of art."

What is something I've never heard of?
