On Shore.
Re "non-premium" beers, by late 70s / early 80s Philadelphia local area was down to Schaefer's, Schmidt's, Ortlieb's and and a few others.
Back then, at the right price anything would suffice.
Somehow we survived!
Have a safe weekend everyone.

Genny Cream Ale! OMG, I remember drinking this when I was (I'm ashamed to admit) 16 or 17 years old. Smoooooth!
I haven't had a Genny Cream Ale since college, probably 1979. I feel so old.

We also used to drink Mickey's, which came in a short, green, wide-mouth bottle. We called it the Green Grenade.

By the way, I'm on the beach!
Hereabouts (Michigan), in the category of super cheap beers, we also had Pfeiffer, Drewry, Blatz, Falstaff, Goetz, and others that maybe weren't quite so cheap or bad, like Carling and Hamm's. And of course our hometown favorite, Stroh's!
Chris - a lot of bad memories came from that list.

In the mid-to-late 70s & early 80s, the only redeeming factor of any cream ale was that it would get you there quicker. A friend put himself through college via old 8 ounce Coke bottle vending machines holding 7 ounce Schoenling Little Kings Cream Ale in fraternity houses around campus.

As of two days ago, Shaefer's is now being brewed at Utica's F.X. Matt's Brewery.

Embarrassed?? I’m delighting in all the beauty I see at the beach! Birds, flowers, driftwood, slimy seaweed, horseshoe crabs. Many pretty things. But not sea gulls, who will grab food out of your hand. Rats with wings.
And that List includes speedos????😋
Well, which topic is more entertaining for brains that have been working hard on metas, beer I used to drink when I was a teenager or which speedo looks better on that cabana boy?
I will let you explain which one you like on Tuesday. For me, there is no question.

Whenever my aunt's brother from Rochester would join us for the holidays, he'd bring Genny Cream. Not everyone enjoyed it and some gave it the sobriquet "Green Death."

On, after a very nice long diversion that went on seemingly endlessly like a cavern with many tendrils, reminding me of Tom and Becky who were stuck for days and could not even get a good snack while stuck, much less anything to drink, shore.

Maybe this calls for a Mr. Rheingold contest.

On the West Coast, "Green Death" was Rainier Ale.

Ballantine was a nasty beer but I did used to enjoy the rebus puzzles on the caps.

Grid done, but still afloat. Hoping to find a way to shore after a mental break. 😉

No time yesterday, and MCWCC week 4 is coming up, so I'm glad this went smoothly.
