From the new post on WSJ about the q&a tomorrow:
Puzzle Writer Matt Gaffney also created a special edition crossword as an appetizer for tomorrow's Q&A.

Thanks - How did one know to do that? Normally the title points the way in Mon - Thur but I don’t see anyway that the title relates to that hence why I didn’t think it made any sense. Was there some other hint?

‘Others‘ in the title; ‘et al’ in the clues. But I just made the first one work and then figured out why.

Today's release of tomorrow's WSJCC will complete 5 years of Crossword Contests. 259 puzzles will have been published for the 261 weeks in this 5 year period.
2015's Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve prevented the Crossword Contest from being published those consecutive weeks. This year, those holidays fall on Fridays, again, so we're likely to suffer another two-week hiatus.

note: You actually DON'T have to be a subscriber to see today's WSJ Q&A. Check out Barbarak's post in the Acapulco Lounge section of this board for the link to the free registration. Thanks Barbara! We just tried it and it worked. Should be fun.

I think this should have it's own topic so it can be found every week....Martin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 7:39 pm New Link.
Because some muggles prefer to solve in Across Lite and there's something going on with the fleetingimage site that has the pointer to it, I've created a new URL that will always point to the current Contest crossword. It's imaginatively called
http://herbach.dnsalias.com/wsj/contest.puz
A new one should be available at 4:09 PM ET Thursday. "Should be" covers a multitude of sins, by me or the WSJ.
I'll try to remember to repost this link in the new Puzzle Contest thread for a couple of weeks, but the link won't change so you can bookmark it now.
When you click it, there's no user interface; it just downloads the .puz file.
I don't know how to do that, or I would do it.
