On shore. I had a really hard time with the last two, so I'm glad to have a win!

I solved the grid but have nothing on the meta so far. And I'm LESS AND LESS likely to as the evening progresses. Think I'll wait for the paper tomorrow and see if filling a fresh grid sparks any ideas.

this is a 100%.

on the shore, nice and early for a change. This one ... is the first Shenk puzzle that I've really liked. It all holds together in a very nice fashion.

I'm ashore and wanted to note that the crossword has TWO shout-outs to the Upper Peninsula (9A & 58D).

I'm torn between local pride and wanting to say "hush." We prefer to remain unvisited.

Anyone else a bit disappointed that the grid was too easy?
No. I found it very challenging. It wasn't until 18A that I had my first "across" answer...

I said much the same thing. Though less colorfully.
