On shore! Happy Friday solve with a gleeful squeal or two. Especially because the answer reminds me of my college years. Roar!

Here on the beach drinking box wine this week!
Got the meta immediately, which was nice after literally staring at last week's for hours to no avail.

On shore! After last week, I was SCARed to tackLE The meta. But I didn't let fear sTANd in my way. One bunny wAGged its tail, trying to lure me down its hole but I resisted. It's early hERe on the beach so I'll have a mimosa.

On shore, mopping my brow and flopping my tired body down in the sand. And glad to be done hopping all around the grid meta shopping.
You’re the tops, Mike.

Happily on shore this week. So much wasted ink last week, going off in all directions. Thought I was onto something clever and chased it for way too long. It would have made a great construct, though...

What area of Houston do you live in? I used to live in Bellaire off Weslayan and off Gessner north of Westheimer in the Westchase area.

Safely on shore! I think I'll join LadyBird and celebrate with a mimosa, since we're still in the AM hours here.

Hopeful to solve the meta this weekend! Still working. This grid is NOT coming naturally to me. Either it’s a toughie or my sleep deprivation with the 6mo is getting to me...

I got it! Nice construction. This is the kind of puzzle that usually confounds me, but for some reason I picked it up in a not unreasonable amount of time.

Good afternoon muggles
Sorry for the delayed report but we had a thunderstorm come through last night and one of my friends in the next town had what we think was a microburst hit their neighborhood. So I went over with chain saw and generator. Across his driveway there was one pine about 24 inches in diameter and 3 pine trees 12 inches in diameter plus the multitude of branches. Other large pines looked like something from Bastogne in Band of Brothers - 24 inch pines just shattered. Fortunately some good Samaritans came along with bigger chain saws to help. Still no power but at least most of their food is preserved and they will have some lights.
Also thanks to everyone for their patience as the WSJ techs fixed the issues with the contest on line.
But back to important things. A very satisfying contest by Mike. We have 4 keeping Isaac company and 133 on the shore.
And we welcome our newest muggles - ponchsteadyfish, stmv and Randy (on the WSJ page).
And a warm welcome back to several muggles that we have not seen in a while

Just getting to this one now. On shore with a new streak started.

I figured it out, but I don't think we can say here while the contest is live. You can PM me though.arlecchino wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 2:27 pm got it! anyone else have a tougher time figuring out what the heck 25across meant than with the meta?
