Hooray! On shore after many weeks on the ship. :)
One of my mistakes along the way ended up pointing out the final answer. It's fun to see all the clever things embedded in the grid since I didn't spend too much time pursuing them this week!

I am ashore after a little help from my husband, who asked a silly question. No dumb questions!

I’m ready for a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. Good luck muggles!

One of the easiest WSJ metas in recent memory, with its title and the starred answers and all that. I would have liked this to be a little harder.

I can’t say for sure that I would have solved it without the stars but I think they were overkill and I also think it would have been better with maybe only 4 themed clues.

Well, to keep it going. Back in the 60s in Greenwich Village I went to a concert to see folk singer (I think; don't recall which one). The opening act I do remember. It was this band who at the end of the set broke the guitars.
Whoa!
Do you mean "Who?"
Or, in Canada, "Who, eh"?
'tis... A lovely day for a Guinness!

FWIW, also the Animals in Housron, but in '82/'83, and saw the Who's FIRST farewell tour in Houston in '83. No Dead or Doors sightings, though.

OK I'm on shore. Sent it in.
Don't care if there's more to it than that, I'm not second-guessing myself until Sunday night. (or if I even know what day it is anymore). I'm watching inane pet videos today.
I just looked up Hill Street Blues. It looks like it's on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, maybe others.

It's 96 degrees today, no beach to go to, and I'm trying to think up creative ways to make food for my husband who had a tooth extraction yesterday.
DO I SOUND CRABBY??? :x Don't answer that. It's the isolation getting to me.

Good for you. I looked at that list and didn't spot it. I will look again now after having a day to cogitate on it and see if I can make it to shore. Right now I am still on the ship. I thought I saw something in the grid, but it didn't pan out.

Funny! I hadn't even noticed the stars! I had to go back and check.

I came ashore last night but have been social distancing.

Hope you all are well.

I saw the Who in Oakland on that first farewell tour, too. The opening act was this unremarkable (or so I thought at the time) English punk band called the Clash. Previous to that, I saw the Who two other times, both memorable - on a double bill with the Dead in Oakland (1976) and the infamous Cow Palace show in 1973 where Keith Moon passed out at his drum set and was carried offstage not once, but twice. After the second time, he was replaced by a 19-year-old volunteer from the audience named Scott. The opening act that time: Lynyrd Skynyrd.

On shore!
I'm enjoying all the talk of bands from 'my era' but I also want to thank Al Sisti for the Reo Brothers shout out last week.
I have binged all their YouTube videos this week and they have really kept my mood afloat. Thanks, Al

All this talk of seeing concerts in the 70's, 80's and 90's makes me feel really old. The first concert I went to was The Isley Brothers in October 1965.

I lived at Bexley Hall! 20 years later though. It was indeed a place where some indulged in "refreshments," but primarily it was a place where people could just do their own thing. Sadly, it's now been torn down.
