Another remarkable achievement by Evan to fit so many theme elements in his grid symmetrically. Not to mention the apropos "icing on the cake" that is almost a meta answer. Quite enjoyable to complete.

Another beautiful puzzle. Thanks, Evan!
On an amusing note, the answer to 53A throws me every time I come across it; I keep seeing this first.

Can anyone explain 145A? Director "Sir Ron" Howard was "just knighted". Ron Howard has not been knighted, so what's the answer? (Thx.)

The reflected entries were all a bit on the silly side. So yes, while Ron Howard hasn't been knighted recently, for the purposes of this clue we were supposed to pretend he had been!Seattle DB wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 11:19 pm Can anyone explain 145A? Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta!
