Haven't posted since the boards changed, don't know why I'm here now, but thought I'd pop in to say I am hopelessly lost at sea. Nice to see some familiar faces!

Still on the ship. Trying a lot of angles but nothing coming yet. Super Bowl party likely to get in the way. Can’t wait to check out the answer tomorrow. Go 49ers!

Muggles who have saved paper copies of past puzzles from 2016, please do not get rid of them, yet. steveb has generously provided nearly all PDFs of puzzles & solutions not in WSJ archives, but there may be a missing puzzle, or two.
In the next week, or so, the remaining puzzles and solutions from January & February 2017 and all of 2016 will be posted. I will post if certain puzzles are still needed.
Thank you, Steve, and thanks to all who may be able to help.

Other than appearing in print, WSJ usually posts the answer some time on Monday on the same webpage as the puzzle. Just to the right of "Download PDF" link you should see "See Solution" link. Once in a long while, it may take them days to post the answer.Bill Bovard wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 2:31 pm Maybe breaking the rules asking this, but where is the Saturday crossword answer published besides Crossword Fiend? Surely WSJ posts the correct answer somewhere?
And on the subject of breaking rules, Sat. 16D has a word in the clue represented by a letter in the answer, isn't this bad form?
Oh, and I don't think I'm going to get the meta this week, I am LAS.

I’m lost at sea but I’m going to submit a guess because my guess that I did not submit last week was actually the correct solution. So I don’t think I can legitimately be counted as on shore.

Let me know if you're still missing any, because I have downloaded and saved the PDFs for *all* of them!Joe Ross wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 4:40 pm Muggles who have saved paper copies of past puzzles from 2016, please do not get rid of them, yet. steveb has generously provided nearly all PDFs of puzzles & solutions not in WSJ archives, but there may be a missing puzzle, or two.

It's also in the PDF for the Monday puzzle (Tuesday if Monday's a holiday), which usually gets posted a little after 9pm Eastern time Sunday.FrankH wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 5:11 pmOther than appearing in print, WSJ usually posts the answer some time on Monday on the same webpage as the puzzle. I think there's some subject drift here. Bill Bovard asked about the solution to the Saturday crossword - so he doesn't have to wait a full week to see it in the paper. As FrankH said, you can see that on the puzzle's webpage at some point early in the week. Additionally, if you use the "Play" button so solve the puzzle online, you can use the "Reveal" feature to see the full solution.
The PDF for the Monday paper has the solution to the Friday contest puzzle, and that is posted after the deadline at midnight Eastern/9PM Pacific.

Final report during halftime
We have 31 on the ship and 60 on the shore
since noon the bar has increased by
Mike H
Dennis
and Kaille
And the shore or maybe a deserted island have increased by
Kris
Softie
Joe Ross
Kay
ky-mike
Janet P
Frances
Peter
and ccmac
And my wife and I don't have a clue who most of the people on the Super Bowl commercials are and in some cases what they are advertising - to no surprise to our daughter. Bring back the Bud Bowl or the Clydesdales

Really appreciate the last couple of comments. Felt like we were pausing frequently to discuss whether we knew who that was or what the commercial was for!

and this game wasn't a "must watch" for me - I turned on the TV twice, caught the halftime score (thanks Bob for telling me it was halftime - 10 to 10 - at least it still was "a game" for those who were there/watching) and just caught the final (my colleagues who work in KC are likely going to be hoarse tomorrow).
We went nuts here in 2019 when the Blues won the Cup, it's the Chief's time to bask in the fun of a national title.
But ... no, we are no longer in the target demographic. I saw the Pepsi zero commercial - and recognized the first song, but none of the performers.
