(The actual #45 this time.)

The answer to the metapuzzle is a book of the Gospel.

Can someone explain 61A to me? I don't get it. Or I have a letter wrong, but the down ones all look good.

Completed grid and submitted an answer. Time will tell.

Nope. Back to the puzzle.

Hmm. There is a dead-obvious, one-step answer that I think cannot be squared with this being a pgw meta... But I'm not seeing anything else yet.

I have some ideas and/or steps, but I haven't yet figured out how to put it together to come up with the answer. Not in a hurry, though. I'm not opposed to taking this one into the weekend with me, if need be.

I have what I think is step one, but no idea where to go from there. I'm determined not to submit anymore unless I'm at least 90% sure, so I might need to let it go this week.

Enjoyed the grid though! I was only completely stumped on one square (36A/26D); I managed to eventually work out everything else.

pgw took the very kind step of soliciting my one-step answer and confirming that that's not the mechanism. Which is cool, because thinking, no, it can't be that easy, can it? is a much less pleasant place to be than, wtf, I can't see anything yet.

I'm 42% sure I know the answer but not the mechanism.

Actually, more like 22% sure...

Nope. Back to the puzzle.
When you write "Nope" - did you get a response from pgw saying your solution was wrong?

Something was pointed out to me, which looks interesting but too much of a slog to pursue.

I had an idea, but my confidence level is nowhere near 100%. PGW meta answers are almost always 100%, often with some nice confirming pings. I can think of one exception from very near the beginning, but otherwise when I've felt less than 100%, I've been wrong. So I'm resisting submitting my wrong answer, but it's a struggle!

Sent Peter my answer, with an explanation as to how I arrived at it. Was it right? Dunno... tick tick tick.

(Later) Confirmed...such an elegant construction.

I am actually at 95% now, having previously had some pretty interesting incorrect ideas. Pretty sure pgw is about to create a spam filter for my emails.

Edit: And pgw confirms what was my nth answer, for n large. Quite a feat of construction, and definitely pgwesque.

Wow, I actually got a PGW (I know I say that every time I get one). There are some of his that rank up with my favorite metas, and this is definitely one of them.

Was so excited to get it, I posted here first. I'll submit my entry now...
