On shore (with the help of a friend!).

PS: 14 proper nouns in the grid. C'MON MAN! Is this a crossword puzzle or a trivia contest?

Still imbibing with Isaac. Had the mechanism early but the dreaded first piece has me confounded. Herradura this time, please!

That was the stumbling block for me as well. Keep at it. It will come to you.

On shore. Went down a fruitless rabbit hole and finally did it by brute force.

Still on the ship, don't see myself solving this because I have stared at it for some time and got nothing. I tried to cipher out the clues but only blanks. Still smarting from last week and lots to do today and tomorrow so I will probably just have to read about it Monday.

I'm gonna stop beating myself up when I don't get a Meta because, as someone last week pointed out, these are supposed to be fun.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Not ashore, (yet, he says, optimistically). I see a couple tantalizing clues...

Welcome to the land of the muggles. A good solid win and good luck winning the mug. As far as why he picked this player either 1) it fit or 2) he is a @#$%^ fan
My 3) is admittedly a stretch but it’s still a cool final connection even if it ends up being unintended.

turn up the volume really, really loud.

And then we can work on the meta

so far we have 55 on the shore and 5 on the ship.
I’ll admit to still being on the ship....not an NFL expert by any means. I have some of what I need to solve, but not all.
Come on Cindy

You have to give 110%
It's gut check time
Leave it all on the line
It does not get any better than this
Play one meta at a time
Nothing comes easy in metas
It's do or die time
There is no tomorrow
We know you won't be denied today
This game is all mental
Are you willing to pay the price?

Did I miss any sports clichés?

Monday's are great because everyone talks about what the did and how they got there. The wrong turns are much better than the right ones.

I am sending in my answer, after consulting the football fan in my house. Still don't think I fully understand the meta, but this is all the time I have to devote to it this weekend. Cynthia J
