This week’s contest answer is something you may need to do to figure out the meta.

All I can say.....Welcome to Week 5.

Done! Submitted but not confirmed, though I’m 99% confident. Very nice one. Felt more like a week 3 to me, but that could just be a case of post-solver’s bias. Happy weekend everyone, and good solving!

EDIT: Yes! #16, I think my best yet...

Unlike most Week 5s, the first rabbit I drew a bead on worked.

I see some clues. Not sure how to execute what he's telling me.

Oh for Pete’s sake - solving this one was like waking up and trying to remember a dream. Devilishly good!

Have a great weekend, Muggles!

I Googled more for this grid than I usually do for PGWCC. Absolutely nowhere on the meta.

I know I'm knocking on the door, but just can't seem to find that last step.

Oh, hmm, okay. Can't say that was my fave, but not bad. A deep rabbit hole or twelve in there.

Got it. Waiting for the next board update. That was... oof. I didn't so much discover the right path as slide sideways onto it after tripping and falling over a bunch of rocks and getting caught in some bushes that were blocking the way.

Update: On the board! This is the first true week 5 I've ever gotten! (A few months ago we had the "Google" puzzle, but that was not week-5-level difficulty.)

I may have taken a similar path to damefox :-) I spent a lot of time in a really tempting rabbit hole and only blundered into the real mechanism by accident. Submitted, awaiting confirmation.

Edit: Beam me up!

I'd like to offer my services as a "rabbit hole filler" for anyone struggling this week. Have you been trying the same mechanism for hours? Do you see something in the grid that just *HAS* to be significant? I'll (privately) answer yes/no questions so you can move on with confidence!
