Weird, I didn't get the instructions/hint ("famous British author") in my email, nor do I see it on the site. Had to come here to get it.

I got it on the front page of the xwordcontest.com site, under "THIS WEEK'S INSTRUCTIONS." Also viewable in Across Lite if you click the little document icon up by Gaffney's name.tonyrobots wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 1:05 pm Weird, I didn't get the instructions/hint ("famous British author") in my email, nor do I see it on the site. Got it. About right for the middle of a five-week month. I'm sure the next two weeks will be brutal.

Haven't gotten to the meta yet, but I just have to say, and not to date myself too much, but as a millennial I'm really loving the clue for 23D.

Requesting beam up.
Actually walked away from this one for some exercise. Then solved it - or at least kenned the mechanism - while walking to the car.
I agree with Hector - week 2.5

This one showed up very quickly, which makes me nervous. I haven’t submitted yet because I’m afraid. But it must be right.

Did everyone get their puzzle through Patreon today? I never got an email, even though I signed up last week, and had to access it from Matt’s web site.
Ah, was I just supposed to get it from the Patreon web site? Does this mean that there is no email with the puzzle from Patreon on Fridays?

At the risk of front-running Matt's board update, beam me up!
I liked the neat little extra bow at the end - thinking it must have been intentional, and it echoes another piece, too.
Enjoy the weekend all!
