#585 - "Words of a Feather" - August 16, 2019

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

I submitted. Not the most Gaffneyesque meta, if I have the right eight-letter word.

Beam me up. I agree, not too Gaffney, and somewhat straightforward for a week 3.

Took me longer than it should have, although I'm a lot more knowledgeable than I was when I started (thank you rabbit hole).

I cannot post the answer until tonight because work blocks access, but it seems as if this month is another April so far (nothing harder than a week 2)

Not complaining at all, but surprisingly easy for a week 3. Maybe Matt would like to make this a “Gentle August” for these last lazy weeks of summer?

I’m in shore as well. Seems easy for a week 3, but I stumbled last week, so am happy to have this one done.

On board the Enterprise...NCC-1701. No bloody A, B, C, or D! (Anyone know the reference?)

Beam me up / solved! Matt took it easy twice for Lolla weekend. That said, I thought the answer was great. And we’re probably in for a doozy next weekend.

For the second time, MGWCC landed in my spam filter. I've been getting these for almost three years; why now? Glad to have this forum to remind me to go looking for it.

Beam me up, please. Mission accomplished. It did seem easy for a week 3, but that's not a complaint! I believe the intent is that a week 3 of 5 is easier than a week 3 of 4. Besides, I'm sure there will be harder than average ones coming soon.

The A, B, C, or D is obviously referring to the various Enterprises. If that's a quote, I do not recognize it, but it sounds like something Q would say.

Beam me up too!

Appreciative of a fairly easy Week 3, since we're on the road, and not wanting to spend too much time on puzzles.

Beam me up, I think! Every time I get a week three (even in a five Friday month) I think this’ll be the month I get into the bonus drawing)...

It's from the episode of Next Gen when Scotty went on the holodeck of the Enterprise D. Irascible and lovable...typical Montgomery Scott.
