That is impressive because the grid was so easy

Woo hoo! I actually got it on my first rabbit hole, surprisingly. But that grid was brutal.

done and on the beach.

I'll have a double Mai Tai, no risk at all in that choice.

On the Beach!

Had some trouble with the grid and wrong assumptions, but then saw 52A and 64A and knew we were in for it. (LOL at 63A)

Took some short trips down other rabbit holes, learning from those wiser than me here that if it doesn't pan out quickly to not waste one's time.

Tried something new and BAM! - toes in the sand. :D

I gave it 3.5 stars - great Meta!

Now what am I going to do this weekend?

Ashore! (and on a Thursday! - Probably the earliest page (4) ever for us!)

Again, another magnificent construction! (of course, because we got it!!) How do you do them, Mike?!?

On shore.

I don't usually start until late afternoon, but today I totally forgot about it until late in the evening. No wonder I had so much spare time to do other stuff.

On Shore! Another masterpiece. If you want a slightly more challenging meta, check out "Bird Lives" meta (More Options) at MMM (Muggle Meta Mondays). Go to the main "Board Index", select "Other Meta Crossword Puzzles" (3rd from the top) and then select "Muggle Meta Mondays" (4th from the top). You will find Bird Lives puzzle and 30 others that were constructed from within our Muggle Community. The puzzles are posted every Monday AM and the solution is revealed on Sunday (sometimes with hints on Wednesdays!). Fun clues and grids.

Ashore.

I can see where some muggles solved quickly & why many others - myself, foremost - did & will not.

Just as a FYI (and I will post this several times), the WSJ is sensitive to our addiction and the fact that both Christmas and New Years days are on Fridays this year. The contest will be published Thursdays as normal.

Now the only problem is that each of us and our families will have to figure out how to cope with any social (limited participation and social distancing of course) gatherings on those two eves.

On shore, joining those challenged by the grid, LOL at some of the misdirecting or punny clues. Fun meta!

Grid completed, solution elusive. It didn't help that the combination of 18D and 50D knocked me off-course, thinking I'd stumbled back into a Muller Monthly Music Meta. Struggling to regroup, but it's only Friday.
