The DREADED parentheses are back! It's almost like the Dread Pirate Roberts :(

I think I got the method - but this grid is kicking my butt. I spend most of today drafting and redrafting a Treasury Reg - my mind is mush.

I've been looking at this puzzle, but haven't solved it. Just a couple of weeks ago I looked through all of the old puzzles with parentheses.
He wouldn't use the same mechanism as his last puzzle. I've tried a few other things. Given that nobody has solved it yet, this may be a tough one.

Yes! On shore! That is a nice feeling after admitting defeat on both MMMM and Fireball earlier in the week. 71A is new vocabulary for me. Also, I don't think I've ever heard anyone use the phrase in 40D. Maybe it's a sportsy thing.

On the beach! This one strikes me as the type of puzzle that either one gets relatively quickly, or else it could frustrate a solver for days. I got lucky and the first thing I tried worked.

Ok - well finally finished the grid but what I thought was the method was not. So good luck everyone! I'll check up with everyone after the solution is posted Monday!

On the beach, we think. Method seemed good, we were missing a couple of pieces but we have an answer we like.

A tough grid, a short stare, and the meta revealed itself. Count me on shore.

Stay well!

Oh, this made me laugh out loud! I was making this WAY more complicated than it is -- though it's not an easy one by any means.
HUGE thanks to this group for your friendship, cheerfulness and camaraderie -- as always.

Ashore! After finishing the puzzle, I looked at the meta for a bit, but had to break for lunch. Then, I looked at it for a few minutes more and found I was in need of a nap. But, no sooner had my head hit the pillow than a light came on upstairs. And now I’m even more in need of a nap ... 😜.
