Up to the time I read this I was revelling in an nice early solve and a nice idle weekend. Gonna get some chores done. Finish a book. Maybe even bake some cookies. Now, I've got a mindworm, and I do not do well with many of these. Perhaps I'll be asking for a nudge.

It is excellent advice for solving a crossword and a meta as well as all of those pesky strategic challenges that confront us as adults.

This is how I know Wendy is smarter than me - I consider myself pretty well read and pretty knowledgeable about authors even if I haven't read them but I have never heard of this person.

Any reader of P.G. Wodehouse has heard of them. In one story the upper-class twit Bertie Wooster wears a daringly loud plaid pair on the golf course and his traditional valet, Jeeves, strongly disapproves. In the end Jeeves, of course, gets his way and the offending "article of clothing" ends up being given to the gardener's helper.

If you like Wodehouse (and golf), The Golf Omnibus is highly recommended.

Again, a warm welcome to our newest muggles - Flananigans and Franklin.Bluth. We are up to 776 who have posted that they are on the ship or shore at least once.

And we have 9 on the ship with Isaac and 66 partying on the shore.

Last thing - I have PM'd a couple about direct references to the grid answers. These may or may not help someone solve the meta but they make getting the grid answers less enjoyable to most. Could we all look at our posts to make sure that we are not pushing the boundaries.

Also make sure that you have it set up to receive a PM as that is the best way to communicate without drawing attention to the issue.

Ashore! That one took me longer than I'd like to admit. I'll take beer: multiple, cold, and domestic.

My twins turn 5 tomorrow so I'm smoking a brisket overnight tonight to celebrate...supposed to get down to 36 degrees here overnight, so wish me luck!

Been in a rut these last few weeks, think I'm losing my mojo...will keep at it though! Seems like I've been overthinking too much

Got the grid but am, yet again, struggling with the Meta. This is only my 3rd week so still gotta get the juices flowing. Eventually got last week's meta with a nudge to kick start the ol noggin. Likely will need one again this week...
