And that they were supposed to be ET's favorite candy, until Mars, Inc. thought he was too ugly to be associated with their brand. Major marketing miss, since sale of Reese's Pieces took off after the movie was released!
I learned this today because when I saw that clue I was trying to remember why they were replaced w/ blue and it included a blurb on the E.T. thing.

Happily ashore! Only second time on a Thursday. Make mine a margarita! How funny that a clue for the actual Thursday puzzle was "bartender on the Love Boat"? LOL

Ashore.

My husband and I looked up at each other questioningly when the weather guy on the news mentioned holiday weekend forecast. And then we remembered --- the holiday whose name must not be mentioned. Between being retired and never going anywhere, we have a hard time with day of the week much less whether it"s a "holiday weekend."
But people have mentioned "easy" and "crowded shore" so perhaps it really is and that's possibly why. (?)

Yes I believe the replacement was blue.

Sheesh! I had it but didn't see it! But I see it now, and I've sent it in. Wisely, I didn't delay my Martini. Almost done with that, too. I believe I'll have the olive now! Best wishes to all for a speedy passage to shore!

Quick swim to shore. Faster than the States meta, but similarly it was the first thing I tried.
Now like others...back to the MMMM. But first a Zoom wine tasting...perhaps that will help the mental flow.

Did the grid fast (for me) and thought I was headed for a PR. Stuck on the meta now.

Cheerfully ashore and glad to be done on a Thursday, leaving time for other weekend activities. Those puzzles where we are still struggling on Sunday afternoon... they can cast a big shadow.

Something I could enjoy. Are they playing baseball this year? I would have lost interest, except it's better than watching politics.

Count me on shore. I believe it is the right shore this week, unlike a couple of false positives in the last couple of months. Having a [corked] Savignon Blanc, rare as honest politician. Huddling under the gas heater to stay warm.

Water line is replaced in the mountain house. Adding a roof over the generator here in NH. Concrete piers poured today and lumber delivered. Still need to trim out the deck from last month and string SS wiring for railing. Hopefully can outrun the first snowfall. Don't know how I ever found the time before I retired...
