On Shore. I'll take an ice cold Ommegang Saison Rose. It's a steamy night!

Just started after a late case. Quick swim to shore. Sunscreen, a fresh crossword, a sharp pencil and a chilled Pinot would be my beach heaven. Although the second I am done the crossword I’m back snorkeling...

Haven’t really worked on the meta yet.
In case I don’t get it, I want to say tonight how much I love a puzzle (like this week’s) that leads me to learn about something that I had not known of previously!
I’ll be happy with just that!

Some Google bot may be challenged to classify my interests if it tracks the many searches I needed to finish the grid (actor's names, distant capitals, gods, river names, book titles, Roanoke Lost Colony word, ...). But I'm ashore with the meta after a couple of lost weeks.

Cheers!
UM - from the airport you head north on Route 1 to Danvers but go west on Route 9 to Natick

You need a new GPS.

Liberty, biberty,
What am I looking for?
Where’s the connection that
Takes me to shore?

I know it shouldn’t be
Unrecognizable!
No, there it is, and I’m
Splashing no more!

After the distraction of a Zoom virtual happy hour with working-from-home colleagues, I powered through it! I'm finding that rewarding myself before I solve it (with the Martini) may be just the lubrication I need.

On shore after going down WAY too many dead end - and overly overly complicated - rabbit holes. Another beauty from Mike.

Forgot to post - did the grid and made it on shore quickly after returning from Maine, where I dropped my son off at overnight camp for the next 3 weeks. Fingers crossed for a safe and happy experience (and for my wife to recover from the trauma!).

Since I won the mug a few weeks ago, I am now trying for consecutive solves -- up to nine with this one. I had to come back to it several times, as there were a lot of things that jumped out at me here; ultimately only one of them paid off. There is one key I have found to getting more quickly to that aha moment, in instances when the solution does not jump out at me right away. I have to keep reminding myself of it. It is possible is has been shared by others here; I will share my version of it on Monday.

I do have an easier time with Shenk than with Gaffney.

Joe wrote: Thu Jul 09, 2020 4:43 pm Yup. On shore. True to form for the last few months. I either get it in two seconds or torture myself all weekend.
Me too. Either I get it instantly or I pretty much never will. Rarely do I "work at" a meta "until" I get it.

Shout out to Google Maps, for helping with the grid.

But the biggest thanks goes to Basil Hayden’s, for helping me figure out the meta!
