Nlbil wrote: Thu Jul 02, 2020 6:10 pm On a non-related topic, I would like to pass along a thanks to Mike shenk for his fun puzzles for kids of all ages in the wsj last week. Very clever and my kids and husband loved it!!! I hope he sees this.
I have printed out three copies of each of the puzzles.

Copy 1 - for 15 year old granddaughter and her aunt (my daughter)
Copy 2 - for 12 year old grandson and his father (my son)
Copy 3 - for my wife and daughter in law to look at for 30 seconds and then get another glass of wine.

I see the mechanism but only 2/3 there so far.

On shore. I was stumped at first. Went out for a stroll after dinner, and about halfway around the block, the light went on I had to scurry back home to see if my idea worked. It did!

On shore after a push (forget nudge). This puzzle is as far from my wheelhouse as is possible. I never thought I would say it but I found something I like less than music themes.

Well there is ZERO chance I'm solving this one. I'm going to watch some reruns of Daria.

I got it! (Sometimes you get it, and sometimes you don’t.)
I totally didn’t get last week’s, but I nearly always have trouble with that type meta.
This week’s reminded me of a previous puzzle; I’ll tell which one after the deadline.

I got halfway there, then had a sudden flash and made it ashore.

Fun!

Late start. Easy grid. Quick solve. I'll be sipping some Weller tonight.

I have an answer of sorts, but it BArely makes sense--I couLD venture to say that it makes no sense. Which lEAds me to think that I should just keep paddling around for a while (which should feel good in this hot and humid weather) and explore other possible anGLEs.

Never mind. My dear husband just towed me to shore! He'll have a pina colada. Maybe he'll share with me.

On another note, o wise and quirky muggles. Any suggestions for something fun go have delivered to our son and his wife this weekend. They were supposed to come up this weekend to visit us and her folks, but they are now laying low since she was exposed to a patient who was then found to have Covid. It's been one thing after another: delayed honeymoon to Europe canceled,; grad school graduation canceled; job that was supposed to start last month now delayed ( perhaps forever), and now this. Thanks!

On shore. The few strokes took a little time, but otherwise I got to it pretty quick. This was a new kind of meta to me, so fun and original.
