Well, sometimes you just see it.... we're on the beach!

(that should have been the same for last week -- but when it doesn't, it just doesn't!!)

Can you see it here? I got to it at 4:23, but I was a little late today.

Still aboard ship, skipper. Not a beach in sight.
That’s crosswordese to me. I learned it by doing many crosswords. Like eke, etui, etc. If this is a spoiler, please delete.

On shore. Although my poor meta memory needed nudging. But now for some actual lakeside shore!

Our power was out all day today (thankfully it was beautiful out on the back deck), so with the lights now finally back on, I’ve completed the grid (a fairly tough one), and I’ve just begun staring for the meta, with nada yet. Oh, who needs to sleep.

Always post that you’re getting nowhere on the meta, because two or three minutes later you’ll see what you need to be seeing, and within a few more minutes you’ll be ... ON SHORE!

Happily on shore, a lot faster than last week. As with a previous post, I saw Step 1 right away, and struggled a bit with Step 2 until the light dawned. Time to kick back on the beach.

Wow, both Mike and Matt are leaving me stranded at sea for the last few weeks. May yet again this week. Seeing nothing...no more meta mojo for me :(

On shore. Really good mechanism but the grid is kind of sloppy. Usually very obscure and ugly fill is there to assist the theme related fill, but here you have some real stinkers that are not connected to the meta mechanism. Seems like a bit more editing could have helped on this one.

On the shore, and it's a welcome sight after spending last week on the ship watching the revelers at the tiki bar through binoculars. I didn't grasp this one immediately, but when I looked at it again over lunch (and after a nap), my brain finally figured out what was going on.

Thrilled to join the beach party after two frustrating weeks at sea. The grid was definitely harder than usual. Meta took half the time, and it’s elegant. Now for the real dilemma: late night snack or melatonin?

Where our minds are these days: A text exchange with Dearest Partner:
WW: Solved!
DP: Fast.
WW: The title was HEAD COUNT.
DP: Lined up waiting for the barber.
WW: Seriously?? Ruffini's is open? You are getting a haircut??
DP: No, just kidding about the counting of heads.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Ashore.
AHA moment just after I got my haircut (still at home).

Yep...eventually. And with a nudge.

On shore. This one came very easily, unlike the metas from the last couple of weeks. As I've seen others say, sometimes answers just click because they are in line with the way in which the solver thinks.
