Pretty sure I'm onshore - only second time ever before I finished the grid. If I'm right I can sorta thank PGW for it.
Edit: Nope. Found something related to the method but what results is meaningless.

Got it. A fine meta that some will find easy and others impossible, maybe even moreso than usual.

Nice meta mechanism. I’m on the beach. That is one cute cabana boy!

On shore. Nice puzzle.
I got the meta very quickly this week, as opposed to last week where I really struggled. Sometimes the first thing I see happens to work.

I literally embody both ends of this spectrum. Had Step 1 inside of 10 minutes of looking at the puzzle. Literally would have spent the rest of my life trying to find Step 2 even though Step 2 should have been far easier than Step 1 (mainly because I had already discounted it for reasons only my brain could justify).

On shore, but I bet there will be some complaints and more wrong answers than usual.

Okay ... I think I just waded ashore, but I also think I was bitten by a shark during the initial swim. Somebody got some real splainin’ to do ‘bout this one!
(Which is to say: either I got the right answer or it was the mother of all red herrings that bit me!)

Wow! IMHO one of the best this year. Found the grid a little more challenging than most; poked around a few promising rabbit holes before narrowing down to the correct path.
Done and ashore!

I'm 100% sure about my answer like I usually am. I don't see anything to complain about. I know that I tend to have an easier time on Shenk's puzzles than Gaffney's.
There are lots more 5 letter words than US Presidents, so we could certainly see some creative answers.

Too many rabbits to count. Still with Isaac. Make it a double!

I think this was probably the toughest Grid this year for a WSJ CC puzzle - maybe longer.
