You watch your phraseology, young lady! Side trivia: That is a quote (paraphrased) from...?

This guy had 4 roles in his high school's production. One was the Whaddayatalk? guy. Another was a Or It Could Be Something Special Just For Me! guy. "Townsfolk" didn't do this guy justice, let me tell you! Volunteered to bring the proofed program to the printer & had them change it to list all four of my bit parts separately, with my name beside each. Quite the nerd coup, but also well respected by my football teammates.

Finally finished the grid after an incorrect assumption that rendered the crossing entry senseless. I have learned a new word in making the correction.
Have no idea about the meta. Hoping for post-enlightenment.

Wow! Just printed off the puzzle and am not thrilled. This is NOT my area of expertise by a long shot.
Maybe I’ll surprise myself! 🤞🏼

Wow, 12:30 and 4 pages of shore birds! I thought I had the secret but if I did the monarch must be Eastern European. I'm guessing I made an incorrect assumption.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Ashore! Man, some of you are fast. I found the grid pretty challenging for a contest puzzle. The meta was beautiful when it finally fell into place. Now: work, beer or sleep? Zzzzzzzz....

On shore. The grid was really tough, and it didn't help that I made some mistakes. Some here had to find help to refresh their memory, but for me it is brand new and so I had to ask Mr. G what it is all about, and then wonder what I needed to do. Then in the middle of my shower, it dawned on me. But my first try didn't work because I did it backwards.

Let us know on Monday. The process did seem vaguely familiar.

Just registered and first time posting! I've just recently started following the forum/doing the contest, and I'm loving it - I have a new reason to be excited for Friday now. I can proudly say that I'm on shore (make that 4 in a row)!

Tricky puzzle, but great meta. Great work, Mike.

On shore!
A Friday off work means I started the meta one day earlier than normal :) I liked this one and was pleased that I got it pretty quickly without going down any rabbit holes.
It's Labo(u)r Day here in Spain, which during quarantine means it's exactly the same as every other day, except the grocery stores are also closed. (The one place I've been allowed to walk to for the last 48 days.)
However, TOMORROW (!!!) we begin "phase 0" of de-escalation and adults (that's me!!) will be allowed outside for walks.
Can you tell I'm excited?
