Still at sea - haven't looked at it since Thursday, but here is my possibly complete concert history, all in the late 70's around the Twin Cities.

Led Zeppelin (Met Center Bloomington, MN)
Supertramp (Breakfast in America Tour)
Jeff Beck in a bar
Crosby Stills and Nash (we went to the seats behind the stage that were closed off and watched the whole CSN concert from about 50 feet away.)
I tried to get into a Rush concert at the St Paul Civic Center, but it was sold out. Some got in but I sat in the car the whole night (mid-winter)

OK - on shore

While not a concert, the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon laser light show at the Denver Planetarium was an unforgettable experience.

Y'all got me thinking about concerts now. Most notables-
First concert was 5th Dimension in East Lansing '72 I think,
Chicago, also East Lansing in '73?,
Blood, Sweat and Tears, Birmingham, about '73,
Lee Ritenaur, at the Baked Potato, San Fernando Valley in '75,
Freddie Hubbard, Seattle, mid 70s, not the Blue Banjo but the club that took over the space (Pioneer Bank maybe),
But I had the most fun watching Vidar Busk at B.B. Kings in Moscow 2002. He played a lot of other performers music, but I have never seen anyone play guitar like he could.

I think that I came at this from a scarily different, yet familiar, direction.

Played and sang his tunes like "I'm Hip","Wheelers and Dealers" etc. in clubs. Sorrow to say, not many listeners "got" his songs.
My favorite was one he wrote with Johnny Mandel, "You are there".

But did you ever play and sing his best-known song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFroMQlKiag ?
Maybe your kids did.
(The vocal is by Jack Sheldon, who Frishberg, in his memoir, mentions with justified distaste.)

My favorite line from "I'm Hip" is "When it was hip to hep I was hep."
No, never sang any Schoolhouse Rock, and I determinedly followed through with my "no kids" promise to myself. 8-)
You've convinced me that I have to get Frishberg's book. Thanks.

Heh! 20 pages with plenty of comments about birds, but almost none with rabbits. Great job, Muggles!

We’ll share if lucky enough to win.

And my first concert was Gordon Lightfoot at Carnegie Hall in 1970. $5.00 for the ticket!

Amazing coincidence!
that is something. but apparently, Missouri had the last multi-word state capital. I guess it's too bad Little Feat didn't play at woodstock.

Considering the stories that Frishberg could tell, that I've heard him tell in interviews or sitting at the bar between sets at Bradley's, and considering how much he could say about writing tunes and lyrics, I found the book disappointing. It could have been so much better.

I'm enjoying all the talk of bands from 'my era' but I also want to thank Al Sisti for the Reo Brothers shout out last week.
I have binged all their YouTube videos this week and they have really kept my mood afloat. Thanks, Al
Ann, their latest is up on their Facebook page. Penny Lane...absolutely spot on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CGLpvlUyAo
