Sorry, Isaac old chap. This week we're straight for that sandy beach bar.

A good nights sleep, a little post enlightenment, and suddenly I’m ashore. I agree, very clever construction. How Matt and Mike do it week after week I have no idea. I really like the idea of the letter, let’s do it.

Stay well all

Ashore, but I'm not sure how! I found the answer without knowing precisely how to arrive, which would be a first.

I'm new to the forum but have been trying my hand at the metas for some time now. Glad to be here.

Same. Isaac and I are still exploring many weird rabbit holes with no shore in sight.

UPDATE: I'm ashore, and I know why/how.

Yes. It snowed today so I also brought hot coffee. The pineapple was a bonus.
I am convinced that you two Beth's are just one person. You seem to solve at the same time week in and week out. And Beth C is not far behind

Late start. Grid done. Good news - I've got plenty of it. Bad news- it's a lot of nothing! Rebooting with a clean grid. Cheers!
'tis... A lovely day for a Guinness!

Wendy Walker wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2020 6:21 pm Muggles, what does everyone think of the idea of sending a Letter to the Editor to the WSJ thanking them for continuing to provide the puzzle during the pandemic? It has been such a help for so many reasons! I will volunteer to write it and will post it for suggestions. If it's a dumb idea, don't hesitate to tell me so.
On shore!

I have been adding a brief message to my contest submission each week - thanking the WSJ for its continued paper AND puzzle publications. But then all my contest submissions obviously go to some dead-letter email limbo (as I remain mug-less)... So an explicit missive would not hurt.

Does the rating system at the top of each topic in this forum still work? It's been very buggy lately. Sometimes I rate the puzzle and then the rating disappears. Right now it's telling me 0 people have reviewed this, and I find that hard to believe.

That’s just a frequency phenomenon. Also, now that I’m on a bigger screen than my phone I realize my coffee is soup. That’ll be lovely with my sandwich.

Think I got it? Everyone seems to feel very confident in their solution but it feels way too obvious to me lol

On shore. Usually I do the grid and look at it for a few minutes to see if anything jumps right out. Usually nothing does and I wait to get inspired. This one came quickly, a good thing since I am only partly through a long list of quarantine-inspired tasks that need my full attention. No Tiki Bar for me; I gave the dog a bath instead.
