Ashore! Quick solve, enjoyed the clean fill and meta mechanism.

Shhh. I don't think you're supposed to give any answers at all even if you're sure everyone has gotten them. OTOH, I didn't notice this and am glad you pointed it out.

OK, quick grid but the meta was infuriating. We dog paddled for a couple of days backfitting multiple possibilities (we were both math students), but with no orderly way to get there. It finally just popped out. Ashore and exhausted and we should have been here 3 days ago. (Note from the wife: he thinks he is ashore).

Apropos of very little, other than previous ancient computer technology discussions, I had the privilege to DVR & watch "Hot Millions", circa 1968, starring Peter Ustinov, a very young Maggie Smith, Karl Malden, and Bob Newhart, today. It aired on TCM. Not the best cinema, but very watchable! I was 8 when it was in theaters and I doubt many of alls y'allses' were much older, but it struck a number of (rather ancient) chords.

The puzzle title is familiar. The model demonstrates my issue's Year-by-Year College Graduation Stratagem.

I am ashore. Recuperating.

The center of gravity in this forum seems to be around New England, so it makes sense that on my cross-country flight to Boston, it was somewhere over Fitchburg that I found my way to shore. I'm not sure if it's the right one, but it seems to add up.

Progress to shore has come to a halt so the final report is 8 on the ship and 109 on the shore.

I am still at sea (granted, without much time this weekend to work on this). Making one last effort here, with my terrier by my side on the couch, to plumb a couple more rabbit holes...
