Ashore! Actually, my wife got it, and I'm along for the ride!

Agreed with several that we were hoping to find something to double-confirm our answer, but decided we were close enough to go ahead and submit.

We missed the last two weeks and are happy that we're finally back in the groove.... thanks Matt (and Mike!)!

When I saw that the answer would be a celebrity, and no mention of "famous", I was thinking "uh-oh", because even with that adjective included, like "famous comedian", I would likely be in trouble. Just as I thought, I had to consult with Mr G to make sure what I had was correct. But perhaps this time I am one of the few ones that are not aware of this celebrity.
I shudder when I see "celebrity" as well. (I also shudder when I see athlete, entertainer, singer...I guess I shudder a lot). I think celebrity is a weird way to describe the meta solution this week.

I really didn’t like this weeks puzzle,
It tested my honor as a Muggle,
Used Google too much,
In fact, ‘‘twas a crutch,
Can I claim “shore”? Oh, what a struggle!

No one brought them!!! And we missed you
Thank you but there was no way I was getting the answer to that baseball puzzle.
I know the basics about sports but that one threw me a curve (ball) for sure.

Good Sunday morning fellow muggles

It has been an interesting 24 hours as several muggles have crawled onto the shore. I will be interested to see the comments tomorrow as I have a few questions that I have been wondering about. I am quite sure I have the answer but there are a few ???? to be resolved

Currently we have 6 on the ship and 98 on the shore. Mark C joined Isaac yesterday

And the growing shore party now includes

Patty
JakeorJacob
DrTom
Arnold
jmorgie7
Josh
AnnP
Kris
Rita
our lusophile
Bill H
Colin
the Geoduck
and Matthew M

Good luck to those on the ship getting to shore and to everyone winning the mug. My guess is a lot of entries with about 75% correct

Welcome to the group. Always great to have more muggles.

Good luck winning the mug. And I am sure that there will many more trips to the shore.

Welcome, Anomander! Partaking of same as I type.

Finished 18 holes this morning & offered to buy the first round at the 19th. Heard the following valid excuses of "my grandson has a soccer game", "I want to watch the game at home", "I had bad fish, last night."

All valid, but, c'm'on... Beer.

I did manage to get the puzzle, and I'll admit to using Google a lot, but in my (and it seems a lot of folks) defense the clues for answers that let you solve the meta could have been, IMHO, better formulated. If anyone at all is interested I'll post what I feel might have helped me get the grid without using Google so much. I don't mind an assist now and then but this week I feel "dirty" for having relied on it so much. I was going for a completely different convention until I ran into two that would not let me follow that line of reasoning (plus my celebrity would have had to been Welsh).

Embarrassed to admit I don’t get it. When can I read spoilers? Surely it’s ok by now?
50D isn’t a word...43A is misspelled... where are you getting ‘ashore’...😳

After midnight EDT. This one is either brilliant or the worst. I’m not clever enough to see the former yet.
