But I know better than to think I was anywhere close to being the first to finish.

I am a true grinder on the Varieties, but this one came with less struggle than normal.

This was a fun challenge. They've posted this type before, but not as often as some varieties. The quote makes an extra helpful cross for the down entries.

I hadn't seen this variant before and was initially afraid to plunge in. But once I started, the grid progressively opened up and it turned into a pleasant evening solve.
