Another fun variety cryptic from HEX: https://blogs.wsj.com/puzzle/2020/09/11 ... tember-12/

Do they ever disappoint?

This started off ok, but now it’s getting tricky!

I’m done except for 30a. If you got it could you pm me with the wordplay?

Some tricky parsing but got through them eventually. I guess the more straightforward instructions meant that the cryptics would be a little tougher. Not too many gimme’s here.

Done, with a question in return (8D).
Have the mystery phrase, but suspect I have an error in this part of the grid. (Postscript - I did.)

Slogged through this one but finally finished it. Helped to get the top half done and figure out the rest of the phrase. Had the 24A answer even though part of the clue confused me, and still seems like a stretch after understanding it.

My thoughts exactly on what I got for 24A.

Very enjoyable! Starting to spend more time solving cryptics than regular x-words. Love that there’s an aha in every entry.

Favorites were 14A, 22A, 32A, 7D, and 10D.

I always enjoy this pair's cryptic crosswords, and eagerly await them when they come out. I wish we could get one of these each week!
