Maybe it's just sour grapes because I didn't "get" it, but even after I *did* get it, I just never heard of pitch used as throwing something out.

To "pitch" only means to "throw". Therefore, you can "throw" up a tent, or "pitch" a tent.

Maybe it's a regional thing. Can't say I use it all the time, but I've certainly heard it.

I don't have the puzzle in front of me and don't have specific clues anymore but basically each of the theme answers were phrases that had "tent" "pitched" out of them. I think one them answer was: TO A GREAT EX(tent)
