Fun one.

I'm grateful too that it got me to look up usage discussions about a word that had made me uneasy.

So then I had to go looking in my grid for a word that could make you uneasy...
An alternate for donkey?
Bugs bunny's nemesis?
Something in Yiddish?

I’m intrigued

I've PMed Meg to explain. Others can PM me or wait & I'll post it after the deadline. Upshot is that there's nothing at all problematic here.

This was so much fun! Took a minute to get the last piece, but I loved it. Every single puzzle ACVX publishes is a gem.
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

Found this puzzle after the submission deadline, but wanted a meta to do over morning coffee -- and ended up having to come back to it, juggling it with a deadline work task and WSJCC and other interruptions, several times over the course of a couple days.

Fun solve, though I needed a nudge on part 2. Now I'm saying "D'oh!" because I really think I should have been able to get it, on my own, much quicker than I did.
